Cyanotype Blueprint workshop in Hampshire
I’m pleased to say I’ll be teaching a Cyanotype blueprint workshop at Itchen Valley Country Park in West End near Southampton on Sunday 13th July from 10am -12.30pm
Come and spend a relaxing few hours learning how to make cyanotypes by harnessing the power of the sun. You’ll create a series of permanent blue prints on paper from local flora, fabrics and photographic negatives. By combining light sensitive chemicals and coating them onto paper you can create paper which when exposed to UV or sunlight turns from green to blue. Once washed out in water these becoming permanent vibrant prussian blue prints to keep and frame.
We’ll be making prints on paper but the techniques from the session can be used on fabric as well. You’ll have a chance to make a selection of prints and learn to tone and experiment with adding different effects. You’ll also get a few sheets of coated paper to take away with you to continue experimenting at home.
Combining art and science the process is easy to learn and suitable for beginners or those with experience. Once you’ve learnt the basics it’s also easy to carry on creating at home. All materials, aprons and gloves are provided, but you're advised to wear old clothes.
Participants need to be aged 14+ for this workshop but I’m working on some shorter childrens sessions to run over the holidays.
