BENEATH THE SURFACE : SOLO PRINTMAKING EXHIBITION BY KATE WATKINS

The Gallery below showcases work currently on display as part of my solo printmaking exhibition ‘Beneath the Surface’ at ARC centre (formerly winchester discovery centre) in Winchester, Hampshire UK. The exhibition runs from 17th August to 24th September at the City Space Gallery alongside the Georgia O’Keefe Photogravure exhibition. It was a privilege to be asked to exhibit in such a beautiful space and quite an undertaking. There are over 50 prints on display. The exhibition is something of a retrospective exploring different periods and themes within my work as a printmaker with 20 years experience. It touches on the importance of maintaining a creative practice in difficult times and the uplifting power of colour. I am fascinated by print methodology, colour and texture and currently focus primarily on monoprint and screenprint within my predominantly abstract body of work.
